Prestige Boutique Osu, Ghana Rising’s 2012 Best Fashion Boutique in Ghana….

I’m doing a piece for and about Ghanaian Dancehall singing sensation, Kaakie and I was desperately looking for a clothes shop/boutique in the Accra area that really sells the type of clothes I would wear or use to style an upcoming artist -and thankfully, I stumbled upon Cilla Buckman’s fab, uber modish Prestige Boutique in Accra’s chichi OSU..

Selling real designer (Gucci, Vivienne Westwood et al) pieces and higher-end high street (if that makes sense) -including: Zara, Top Shop, Kurt Geiger and French Connection, -Prestige Boutique as the photos above attest is probably one of the few boutiques that stocks proper dressy clothes in Ghana if you know what I mean!!!

I don’t mean to be awful but Ghana is full to bursting with lovely looking boutiques that are stocked a plenty with colourful but polyester /manmade fabric garbs -and it just won’t do for true connoisseurs of fashion. And while I’m the first to admit that I’ve celebrated many of these lovely looking shop filled with pedestrian acrylic bits-n-bobs, I must point out that I do so because I love enterprise: -I love celebrating my fellow sisters’ success and feel that I must cater to all taste and needs, -but regular readers will attest, -you can always tell when I’m writing about quality stuff -and the lovely selection of class clothes at Prestige Boutique -is pure quality!!!

Just feast your eyes on those yummy sparkly dresses, I think they are French Connection, -just seen, that hot pair of real Vivienne Westwood heels and the three quarter sleeve on-trend floral jacket above, -and thank the heavens that Accra now has a shop that sells the type of garbs that we really wear. Thus, Ghana Rising Blog is voting Cilla Buckman’s Prestige Boutique in Osu, ‘Ghana Rising’s 2012 Best Fashion Boutique in Ghana Award’.

Stylish Moment: Mrs. Busia By James Barnor -1971

That this uber modish, highly stylized black and white photograph of elegant former first lady of Ghana, Mrs. Busia (she married Dr Kofi Abrefa Busia, the second prime minister of Ghana), and mother of actress Akosua Busia is taken by feted Ghanaian photographer James Barnor in 1971; -makes it even more fashionable and beautiful, -rendering it an incredible stylish moment in Ghanaian history..

Credited as, “Mrs. Busia (taken at their Odorkor residence) 1971” -we Ghanaians are just not used to seeing our first ladies looking stylish and its such a delight to know that this hasn’t always been the case…

The Next BIG Thing: Kwabs

Honestly, I’ve never heard anything like it….Kwabena Adjepong aka Kwabs’ voice is soooooooooo big, soo deep, soooo hauntingly beautiful that its managed to quieten my little man (Jojo’s off school right now and is really **expressing himself**… But really, I wouldn’t want it any other way) -and he’s right next to me listening to the above song, ‘Lay Back’…
I don’t know what to say!!!! I haven’t been soooo moved by a voice or a piece of music for some time -and its rendered me speechless, -but then, I always am, in the presence of beauty!!!!

Kwabs’ voice has got me thinking about Mississippi, the black struggle and all sorts -and I like that!!! Ghana Rising’s now Kwabs’ number one fan.. And is predicting that this great voice is the next BIG thing in the world of music… For more info about Kwabs visit: https://www.facebook.com/KwabsOfficial

Ofori Amponsah

Title: Ofori Amponsah Is Now The General Overseer And Founder of His Own Church (Posted: 12th July, 2012)

Multiple award winning Highlife singer, composer and song writer, Ofori Amponsah aka Mr. All 4 Real, has revealed that he is now a full time born-again Christian and... a strong man of God the world should look out for.

Ofori Amponsah who paid a visit the Peace FM office (Ship House), on Tuesday July 10, 2012, disclosed in an interview with Peacefmonline.com that he is gradually dropping his very successful music career to preach the word of God and win souls for the most high.

The “Otoolege” singer revealed that he has actually formed his own church called the Family of Faith and Love Ministries where he ministers every Sunday as the head pastor. According Mr. All 4Real now known as brother Ofori, he started the church few weeks ago with his own children and few family members but he currently has over a hundred church members.

Ofori Amponsah said he doesn’t want to be addressed with his showbiz name Mr. All 4Real , rather he should called ‘Brother’ Ofori Amponsah which might later change the ‘Prophet’ or ‘Pastor’ Ofori Amponsah because he now the founder and General Oversea of the Family of Faith and Love Ministries.

“I have started my own fellowship and I believe God is calling me into the ministry to tell people He is alive…All the songs I wrote and music I did was not by my strength but by a God-given talent in me but now it is time for me to return to God just like the prodigal son,” Ofori Amponsah stated.

Brother Ofori said his new ministry meets just adjacent to his residence at Ofankor Barrier a superb of Accra. “We started just some three weeks ago”. Ofori Confessed that his love and passion for writing, composing and producing music is slowly reducing and he can foresee that he will completely quit music very soon because God wants to redirect his life elsewhere.

However, he added that he is recording a number [of] gospel songs which will be released very soon all geared towards spreading the good news.

When asked whether he was an apostle, a pastor, an evangelist or a prophet, Ofori Amponsah said the “calling of God” on his life enabled him to do the works of both an evangelist and a prophet. Amponsah said he is prophet and he is also blessed with the gift of healing.

Brother Ofori said he was staunched member of Tesano Baptist Church where was actively involved with the work of God in the early 90, until he backslid in 1994 and met Daddy Lumber who gave him his musical break through. The “Odwo” hit maker disclosed that God revealed to him through a dream in 1997 that he will go the world and return the house of God after 10 years and truly he had his calling 10 year after in 2007

He said it was time for him to return to the Lord and actually preach about Jesus Christ.
***Paulina Opoku-Gyimah says: Lots of Big Love to Ofori Amponsah!!! Ghana Rising prays Gods: protection, Love, Grace and the Blood of Jesus Christ our Lord and Saviour over this former musician…Amen!!!

I’ve just tried http://www.youtube.com/user/viasat1ghana to see if Viasat 1 TV station in Ghana has uploaded it latest hot programmes onto Youtube for those of us living outside Ghana -and it came back void oOOo!!! The thing is…there’s a couple of really hot shows on said TV station I’d love to watch -right now, -and I can’t find clips of them on their website or on their Youtube space -why????

Ghana’s Railway Service -Courtesy of Talk of GH…

“For many years, Ghana's railway system has been virtually non-existent due to poor infrastructure and management. However, in recent times this once dead wing of Ghana's transportation industry has seen a tremendous boost with the emergence of new trains and what seems like competent management. The emergence of these trains have contributed immensely to the search for a solution to the very heavy Accra-Tema traffic. The trains which operate between Accra and Tema convey people from all walks of life to and from their desired destinations. In this slideshow video, TALK OF GH seeks to bring to fore, how fully functional our railway system is in Ghana. WELCOME TO THE NEW GHANA.”Talk of GH

Paulina Opoku-Gyimah says: It was just the other day I copied and pasted a piece about Ghana‘s, OK not Ghana‘s, -but Accra’s newly up and running railway, -about the line that presently only travels between Accra and Tema, -and now look at the above photos by Ghana Rising fave,Talk of GH!!!!

While I think -we’re definitely on the right track, -get it (?), I’m also beyond disappointed by the state of the track/lines, the crumbling infrastructure, many of the stations don’t have platforms -and the inability of the people behind this railway line -to provide the general public with rules and guidelines with regards to safety...

People are walking or selling their wares on the lines and this is beyond dangerous!!! Plus, you can just imagine -in a few months from now, -said people would have trash these tracks/lines -and we’ll be back to square one!!!!

Seriously, education is needed right now!!! Not only for the [paying] passengers (I know what we Ghanaians are like) -but all those selling on the platform -need to be educated with regards to safety -ASAP!!!

Plus its also got me wondering, -whom or what body is maintaining these railway lines???

Ghana Rising would like to ask the government of Ghana to truly get behind this railway service -and make Safety its number one priority -right now!!!

Safety on this line is uber paramount -and must be sorted out right now or we‘ll be hearing about accidents -and nobody wants that -right????

We also need more new trains…

They also need more staff (I didn’t see any) right now to keep things in ORDER!!!!

Why can’t we do things properly in Ghana??? Are we waiting for the Chinese -say, to come and teach us how to use this [somewhat basic] service????

They also need a special police force on said trains.. -Because if I’m totally honest, -even though I‘d love to ride on the above trains with my little Jojo, -I don’t know if out-of-towners like me will feel safe!!!

Honestly, can the likes of me travel safely with our: bought in Europe attire and our “she-can’t-possible-be-Ghanaian” accent??? How many of us born abroad can pass-for-a-locals??? -And will pose a problem???

Thus, the body/people behind this much needed services need to think about all the aforementioned points -as everyone I’ve spoken to about said rail service is uber excited -and would really love to check out it out -when next in Ghana..

Anyway, as I’ve already stated, -we are on the right track, -but I’m going to put a halt to my excitement until the line look and feels safer, people aren’t walking on the tracks -and when its extended to Wa and beyond via Kumasi… Thanks x
